NTSB Begins Ship Component Inspection for Baltimore Bridge Collision

Electrical components will be examined at an agency laboratory.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced this week that it has begun inspecting the electrical parts of the wrecked cargo ship Dali, which catastrophically crashed into Baltimore’s Key bridge in March. Agency officials said they have concluded in-person interviews with the ship’s crew members, and have transported key ship components to the NTSB’s laboratory to conduct an in-depth inspection.

During its preliminary investigation, the NTSB found that the Dali had lost power several times before the collision, which was caused by a similar loss in power that caused the ship to crash into the bridge. The NTSB said it will “continue to evaluate the design and operation of the vessel’s electrical power distribution system, and investigate all aspects of the accident.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For NTSB officials to be discerning as they investigate the electrical components involved in the cargo ship’s power loss.
  • For wisdom for Secretary Buttigieg and NTSB Chair Homendy as they work to ensure the safety and security of the nation’s infrastructure.
